RaceJet FAQ

Which PDA’s work best with the RaceJet?

For a PDA to work with RaceJet, it must have two attributes: 1) It must run on Palm OS 3.5 or above,
2) The Hotsync cable must have a DB9 (serial port) connector on the end.
The PDA’s that we have tested that work very well with the RaceJet are: The Palm
m100 - m105 - V - Vx - 500 Series
We are always testing other PDA devices, they will be added to the list when we are sure that they will
work with the RaceJet to the standards we have set.

Will my Palm Zire work with RaceJet?

Unfortunately, No.
The new generation PDA’s that use a USB or mini USB interface will not work with the RaceJet.
The RaceJet uses the industry standard RS-232 nomenclature.
In a nut shell, the PDA’s such as a Palm m100 are a “Master” device (they have true computing capability)
The new generation PDA’s like the Zire are a “Slave” device and you can not connect a slave device to
a slave device.

My new laptop does not have a Serial port, can I still use RaceJet with it?

Yes, the laptop, even though it has a USB port is still a “Master” device.
You will need to obtain a Serial to USB interface cable at your local computer store.

Where can I find an affordable PDA?

Many of our customers buy their PDA’s on Ebay.
Also you can check www.palm.com for time to time, they have some real bargains.
You can also check with your MaxJet - RaceJet dealer, from time to time we find some PDA’s and
make them available to the dealers for you.
